ZOOM+Care Livestream Concert
Rethinking a Community Live Event
Every time ZOOM+Care opens a facility in a new area, they hold an event to say hello and reach out to the community. These events usually include food, live music, fundraising for local charities, and are fun opportunities to interact with neighbors. During the ongoing Covid-19 situation, however, the usual live event was not an option for the opening of their newest facility in Eugene, Oregon. That’s where the VideoPro team was happy to jump in and help.
The ZOOM+Care team envisioned a different kind of event in the COVID-climate: a concert at the new Eugene ZOOM+Care facility, with a local band, Laundry, playing for the community over livestream. The community could attend on Facebook, and the music would be punctuated by messages from FOOD for Lane County (a local food bank) and ZOOM+Care’s CEO. Donations could be made before, during and after the event to support hungry families in the area.
The VideoPro team worked with the ZOOM+Care team and FOOD for Lane County to pre-record a few of the messages ahead of time, and plan logistics for a successful and worry-free livestream event. We built schedules, outlined graphics and title screens, and tested equipment to make sure the day of the event could run smoothly. We were grateful for the helpful and responsive ZOOM+Care crew that made our job easy.
Streaming Live from Eugene
On the day of the event, we set up our Tricaster and two cameras to stream the event. We pulled a sound feed from the band’s sound guy. During the event, our livestream tech/switcher communicated with the camera operator via a headset intercom system. The event went smoothly and was over before we knew it.
Preparation, planning and testing was the key to the success of this livestream concert with Laundry at ZOOM+Care. We were grateful for the opportunity to work with a talented and dedicated group of people to benefit FOOD for Lane County and the Eugene community.
